Tottenham Hotspur have made an “official bid” for Andy Robertson according to Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs had originally earmarked Robertson as a summer free-agent target, with the 31-year-old’s contract at Anfield due to expire at the end of the season. However, injuries and a lack of experience at the back have pushed Thomas Frank’s side into accelerating their plans and opening negotiations with Liverpool and the player’s camp this month.
Ben Davies is sidelined with a serious ankle injury, Destiny Udogie has struggled with fitness issues and makeshift options such as Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven have all been used on the left this season. Spurs see the Liverpool defender as a low‑risk, high‑impact addition who can add leadership and a winning mentality to a squad that has stuttered domestically despite Champions League progress.
Taking to X, the Italian transfer guru revealed:
“Tottenham sent official bid for Andy Robertson as Liverpool and Spurs are in advanced talks for the left back. Negotiations well underway with Tottenham on it.”
It has also been reported by the Guardian that there is a desire on all sides to get a deal done quickly as Thomas Frank wrestles with major availability issues at Spurs. It is claimed all parties are keen to wrap up an agreement swiftly as Thomas Frank battles major selection problems at Spurs.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s stance is described as respectful rather than obstructive. With Robertson into the final months of his deal and no extension yet agreed, the club are thought to be weighing up whether to cash in now or risk losing a modern legend for nothing in the summer, with a possible recall of Kostas Tsimikas from Roma among the fallback options.
