Liverpool injury news before facing Bournemouth as Arne Slot details whether Joe Gomez can go again

Liverpool will continue to be without three players with long-term injuries as they face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

Reds fans should not expect to see Alexander Isak for a little while longer, while both Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley will miss the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa was added to the injury list on Wednesday after being ruled out of the Champions League win over Marseille.

Liverpool may be slightly short at centre-back heading into the game as well, with Ibrahima Konate likely to be missing following the sad news of his father’s passing.

Joe Gomez could be needed in the centre of defence once again, and speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, Arne Slot provided an update on Chiesa, Gomez and the rest of the Liverpool squad.

No new injury issues for Liverpool

Aside from their three long-term absentees, Liverpool are in a decent place in regards to injuries.

As Slot detailed on Friday, only Chiesa has potentially been added to that list and even then, the Italian is ‘fifty-fifty’ to be involved.

READ MORE: Arne Slot told one Liverpool player simply must start vs Bournemouth, it’s a perfect game for him

“Federico wasn’t able to be on the bench Wednesday, then there was a recovery session yesterday. We have to wait and see today,” he said. “It’s difficult for me to say if he’s available for Bournemouth. We don’t expect him to be out for long, so it would be fifty-fifty maybe if he’s available.

“For the rest, at this moment in time, no one picked up a knock, no one had a problem after the game, but sometimes when you start training again you can feel something, but I expect everyone, all the same players to be available for tomorrow.

“And Calvin Ramsay is not a player who is available for the Champions League, but will be available for the Premier League, so that’s another player to add.”

Arne Slot hopeful Joe Gomez can go again

Likely to be missing Konate and Leoni, it will be a relief for Liverpool fans to hear that Gomez came through Wednesday’s 90-minute showing unscathed.

Slot was asked specifically about his No. 2 as he faced the press on Friday and confirmed that while it is a tight turnaround for someone who has not played a lot of football, Gomez should be available to face Bournemouth.

“He’s shown he’s one of the few players maybe that doesn’t have to play a lot of games and still play at a high level. So, that is very positive,” said the Dutchman.

“Two days’ turnaround, so let’s see how he feels today and if he’s able to start Saturday.”

If Gomez is not able to start at the Vitality Stadium, Slot will be left with a real dilemma over who should partner Virgil van Dijk. Fingers crossed Liverpool’s longest-serving player comes through Friday’s session without any trouble.
