Liverpool’s new home shirt for the 2026/27 campaign has allegedly been leaked online ahead of its official launch.

Details of Liverpool’s new home kit for the forthcoming 2026/27 season appear to have leaked online well in advance of the shirt’s official release – with a mock-up of the brand new jersey apparently providing an insight into the fresh design.

While the leak cannot be verified at this time, Footy Headlines report that the information comes from a reliable social media source who has accurately predicted the appearance of previous Liverpool kits, and this follows a major leak of several new Adidas designs for next season which took place in January and revealed the future look of teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle.

What Liverpool’s new 2026/27 shirt looks like – according to leaks

If the leaks prove to be accurate, then the mock-up of the shirt in the social media post above should provide a very clear insight into how the final design will look – and it’s a clear throwback to a favourite kit from Liverpool’s past.

The ‘shattered glass’ pattern of graded white triangles running right the way across the shirt is a callback to the Candy-sponsored kits designed by Adidas and worn between 1989 and 1991, a kit often cited as being among the club’s very best.

The key difference between the shirts is a much darker red tone – apparently officially called ‘active maroon’ – the design of the collar which is now circular, and the additional white trim on the sleeves, although both shirts share the traditional Adidas triple stripe design across the shoulders.

The mock-ups are not official images of the final design and the specifics may vary, and it’s unlikely that the image above will be confirmed until the kit’s official release later in the year, but with several of the recent Adidas leaks having been corroborated by multiple sources, there is every chance that this proves to be close to the final look of the new shirts.

Liverpool fans have mixed reaction to retro design

The initial reaction from Liverpool fans on social media has been relatively muted, and while there has been widespread appreciation for the callback to a fan favourite shirt from before the Premier League era, other supporters have had qualms.

The deeper shade of red has come in for some criticism, with one fan describing the crimson-adjacent shade as being “an aberration of the New Balance and Nike eras that I hoped Adidas would be wise enough to avoid.” Other fans have responded by hoping that the old ‘shield’ club crest could be brought back along with the rest of the retro design.

Overall, initial reviews are largely mixed with few fans appearing to have especially strong feelings for the new kit despite its historical connotations. Either way, the final design is unlikely to be unveiled until the summer, although no official release date has yet been confirmed. It is unclear whether Liverpool will preview the new shirt before the end of the current Premier League campaign or wait until it has ended to launch their new look for the 2026/27 season.
