Liverpool are prepared to recall defender Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at AS Roma in the event of an exit for Andy Robertson this month, as per reports. The Reds are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of veteran left-back Robertson, and his exit will leave them light at left-back.
According to talkSPORT, Arne Slot's side are prepared to allow Robertson to move to London this month in the event of their successful recall of Greece international Tsimikas. The Greek defender is open to a return to Anfield, but the lack of a recall clause in his loan deal means negotiations have to take place between Liverpool and Roma.
Tsimikas was sent out on loan last summer after several years as an understudy to Scotland international Robertson at the club. The arrival of Hungarian youngster Milos Kerkez pushed him to third-choice, and he decided to move abroad temporarily in search of regular football.
Andy Robertson has expressed his desire to join Tottenham this month in a move accelerated by the injury to Ben Davies. The 31-year-old had been willing to see out his contract with Liverpool, but is now willing to move to the Europa League champions this month.
Tsimikas has appeared 15 times for the Giallorossi this season, helping them to sit in fourth place in Serie A. He will return to Anfield to provide cover for Kerkez, allowing Robertson to complete his move to Tottenham.
Liverpool ace closing in on Tottenham switch: Reports
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is close to a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur this month, as per reports. The Scotland international has emerged as a target for Thomas Frank's side following an injury to Ben Davies earlier this month.
According to ESPN, Tottenham have made an approach to sign Robertson this month despite having an interest in a summer switch previously. The 31-year-old is set to reach the end of his contract with the Reds at the end of the season, but Tottenham are looking to snap him up for a fee in this window.
Andy Robertson has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield since the arrival of Milos Kerkez, playing 21 times across all competitions this season. Tottenham want him to join to provide leadership and quality in defence as a result of their struggles this season. The Scottish defender has been a regular for the Reds since 2017, playing 363 times for the club.
