Liverpool face an intriguing end to the January transfer window as deadline day rapidly approaches. The Reds remain undefeated in 13 games but Arne Slot's side can still improve.

The manager has changed his approach in recent weeks following difficulties integrating all of Liverpool's costly summer signings. Their earlier dismal run has damaged hopes of defending the Premier League crown, yet the club have several other objectives to fulfil this campaign, including guaranteeing Champions League qualification for next season.

When asked about transfers during his pre-match press conference, Slot said: "I expect there to be no movement. But if there's an opportunity in the market and we think we can strengthen the squad this club will always try to do so. But at this moment in time, no."

While the Liverpool manager has made his position clear, the right opportunity could still materialise in the closing days of the window. Here's a look at some of the most recent stories surrounding the club.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's feelings on Liverpool

Former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly been told to leave Real Madrid at the end of the campaign. The full-back moved to the Spanish powerhouse in the summer but has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter.

Spanish publication El Nacional has reported that new boss Alvaro Arbeloa has informed Alexander-Arnold he should leave Los Blancos in the upcoming transfer window, making it clear he doesn't feature in Madrid's long-term plans. The England international's choice to run down his Liverpool contract divided opinion last year.

However, the 27-year-old appears willing to return to his boyhood club in the future, having insisted his affection for Liverpool remains unchanged despite how his departure unfolded. Speaking ahead of his new side's Champions League clash with Liverpool earlier this season, Alexander-Arnold looked back on his time at Anfield.

"I will always love the club. I will always be a fan of the club," he told Amazon Prime Sport. "I will always be thankful for the opportunities [Liverpool gave me] and everything that we achieved together will live with me forever.

"So, no matter what, my feelings won't change towards Liverpool. I have got memories there that will last me a lifetime and no matter how I am received, that won't change."

Liverpool near another exit

Liverpool are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over selling Andy Robertson during the January transfer window. The club sold James Norris to Shelbourne and permitted Luke Chambers to join Charlton Athletic on loan earlier this month.

The Liverpool legend is in the final year of his deal and has lost his left-back spot to Milos Kerkez this campaign. The ECHO understands that no decision has yet been taken over the sale but the club are mindful that Robertson could leave for free in the summer.

When recently discussing his situation at Liverpool, Robertson said: "We'll see what happens. We've had chats now which will remain private. I've spoken to them and we'll see what happens.

"Would I like to stay? Yes, but it's a difficult question to ask. I've got five months left and we need to see the option to stay or if there's options to go and things like that."
