LeBron James Drops Cryptic Response About His Lakers Future

Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James didn’t want to address whether or not he wanted to finish the season in L.A.

After the Lakers’ loss to their cross-town rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, on Thursday night, James was asked if he wanted to finish the season in L.A. James was quick to dismiss the question.

The Athletic’s Dan Woike asked James, “Is this where you want to finish the season?”

And James replied, “I’m good. I’m good… I’m good.”

The 41-year-old superstar may have been trying to avoid getting caught in another media frenzy, which is what prompted him to provide that two-word response.

LeBron James Downplays Reported Feud Between Him and Jeanie Buss

James was bombarded with questions about the most recent hit by ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, rather than the game in which the Lakers did their best to fight back. Holmes’ piece caught a lot of people’s eyes as it highlighted Lakers governor Jeanie Buss’ frustrations with James, his camp, and how he and his camp have handled his time in L.A.

We may never know how much of it is actually true, but that didn't prevent reporters from pressing James - especially about his relationship with Jeanie. When asked about the report, James said he isn’t reading much into it and said he doesn’t “care how somebody feels about me.”

“I don’t really care about the reports, to be honest,” James said. “Since I’ve been here, my eighth year here [in L.A.], been in this league 23 years, there’s [always going to] be another article tomorrow, especially involving me.”

James went on to say that his relationship with Jeanie is “good.”

“I thought it was good, but, you know, somebody could see it another way. It’s always two sides of the coin. … How I represented this franchise, and what I wanted to do to represent this franchise since when I got here until now, it’s been with the utmost respect and honor and dignity. And I would say loyalty. I mean, s–t, I played here longer than pretty much any other franchise I played for besides Cleveland.”

Is Turmoil Mounting for LeBron and the Lakers?

Things with the Lakers aren’t looking so good. L.A. has lost six of their last nine games, and this latest report by Holmes is certainly adding unnecessary fuel to the fire.

James is in his eighth season with the Lakers. This season, he is averaging 22.5 points per game, 6.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 26 games and 33.3 minutes of action.
