There was a somewhat surprise transfer development on Friday when it emerged that Tottenham is targeting Liverpool defender Andy Robertson.
Robertson's game time has been limited following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, with the Scotland captain lining up in just four of Liverpool's 22 Premier League games so far this term.
After securing qualification for this summer's World Cup with Scotland, Robertson is keen to maximize his playing time in the buildup to the tournament. A season-ending injury to Spurs' Ben Davies has opened up a space at Tottenham, with the North London club keen to replace the Welshman's experience in the squad.

Liverpool respects Robertson's wish to leave – considering the years of service he has given to the Reds – and Kostas Tsimikas could now return from his Roma loan spell to operate as back-up for Kerkez over the second half of the season.
Liverpool might hope that the Robertson deal isn't the only bit of business that it does with Spurs in 2026 – that's because Micky van de Ven has reportedly emerged as a defensive target for the Reds.
The Reds find themselves in a precarious position at center-half at the moment, with Ibrahima Konate into the final six months of his contract, and Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez into the last 18 months of their deals.
Richard Hughes will be hoping that Spurs remembers how willing Liverpool was with Robertson, should the Reds pursue Van de Ven in the summer!
However, the reality is that Robertson potentially joining Tottenham is unlikely count for much in Liverpool's rumored pursuit of Van de Ven.

Van de Ven is contracted to Spurs until 2029, which puts the club in a strong position to demand a big fee for the player, but Sky Sports says that Liverpool has no intention of letting him leave, and instead intends to try and convince him to sign an improved contract in North London.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank gave his view on the Van de Ven situation in a press conference on Thursday, saying: "He's definitely a player we should prioritize [keeping happy].
"Definitely, for me, Micky is a key player for this team and this club and hopefully for many years to come.
