Could LeBron James be on his way out of LA? The Lakers superstar didn’t exactly shut down the idea when asked about it after Thursday night’s 112-104 loss to the Clippers.
James’ agent, Rich Paul, has been sowing chaos throughout the season, suggesting that the Lakers aren’t contenders, opening up the door for a trade to the New York Knicks, and suggesting that Los Angeles trade Austin Reaves for Jaren Jackson Jr.
Most recently, ESPN’s Baxter Holmes reported that Lakers owner Jeanie Buss has long been tired of James and Paul’s antics.
“Team sources told ESPN she even began to turn against the Lakers’ star player, LeBron James,” the report stated. “Jeanie privately grumbled, people close to the team say, about what she felt was James’ outsized ego and the overt control that he and Klutch Sports, which represents both James and Anthony Davis, exerted over the organization at times.”

With all of that said, and with the Lakers quickly dropping from second to sixth in the Western Conference standings, does James even want to be in LA anymore?
“Is this where you want to finish the season?” Dan Woike of The Athletic asked on Tuesday night.
James’ answer was…less than convincing.

“I’m good. I’m good … I’m good. Everybody’s crazy,” James responded, before walking away without taking anymore questions.
You know when someone asks you if you’re okay and you answer “yes,” but the timbre of your voice says otherwise?
Yeah, that appears to be what is happening here. Is James really good? Because it doesn’t sound like it. And we might be closer than ever before to seeing the Lakers trade LeBron James.
