According to ESPN, the meeting comes after a report by Baxter Holmes claimed that Buss had grown frustrated with James over the years.
The report stated that the Lakers governor, who is now a minority owner, privately considered not re-signing James in 2022 and even explored the idea of trading him, including a possible deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Per ESPN, Buss was reportedly unhappy with what she saw as James' outsized ego and the belief that he had single-handedly saved the franchise when he arrived in Los Angeles in 2018.
She allegedly felt that James received more credit than the Lakers front office and ownership for bringing him to the team.
Following the report, Buss denied having any frustration with the Lakers superstar. James also responded, saying that he does not care about reports concerning either himself or the organization.
