Micah Richards shares why he’s ‘really happy’ about what Arne Slot has now done at Liverpool

Liverpool will be looking to build on their recent midweek success when they clash with Bournemouth in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

Despite winning the league title last year, Arne Slot’s future has been called into question a lot this term.

During a run of nine defeats in 12, Liverpool fans wanted Oliver Glasner to replace the Dutchman.

Now, though defeats have been few and far between since November, FSG have had to back Slot again as performances have been subpar.

But the 3-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League this week looks to have been a turning point, at least in the eyes of Micah Richards.

Micah Richards thinks Arne Slot has turned Liverpool around

We have seen glimpses of quality from this Liverpool side at times this term, but just like after an improved showing against Arsenal earlier this month, displays generally decline in the following matches.

However, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards expressed his happiness for Slot and claimed the manager has now ‘turned it around’.

“And you know what? I’m really happy for Slot because he won the league last year, and I know fans get really frustrated that, you know, they’ve been spoiled with Klopp because Klopp was so good, high-energy pace football. Slot’s a little bit different, but if you listen to him in his interviews, he’s amazing. He never gets too high, never gets too low.

“Always honest about the situation, and I’m glad he’s turned it around because it’s a difficult situation to be in.”

Liverpool fans will be wary of Micah Richards’ claim

Has Slot actually turned a corner at Anfield? It’s too early to say, but Richards’ claim does seem premature.

Liverpool have generally been much better in Europe this season, even taking into account that horror defeat to PSV.

It’s the Premier League where Slot has struggled, with the manager often pointing towards low blocks as the reason for this.

Well, Bournemouth may be the home side on Saturday, but they are 15th in the table and have won just one of their last five.

As a result, the Cherries will likely set up with a low block, and whether or not Slot has the ability to break that down will prove if he’s actually turned a corner or not.
