Only one game remains in the league phase of the 2025/26 Europa League. There is still plenty to play for – who will secure a spot in the coveted top eight?
In the most recent set of fixtures, we saw some big wins for Rangers, Aston Villa and Roma, while the likes of Nottingham Forest, Maccabi Tel Aviv and LOSC Lille all fell to defeat. Who made it into our team of the week?
GK: Jack Butland
Jack Butland had an awful lot of work to do when Rangers took on Ludogorets Razgrad, but the former England shot-stopper was up to the task.
He made five saves agaist Ludogorets, including a fantastic one in the first half. Could a surprise international call-up be on the cards?
RB: Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Just over a couple of years ago, after leaving Arsenal, Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ career was on the ropes – now, he is thriving as a right-back at Lyon.
He scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over Young Boys, picking up a clean sheet along the way.
CB: Martin Erlic
Martin Erlic isn’t on this team for his defensive contributions – it isn’t often that a centre-back scores a brace.
Playing for FC Midtjylland, he scored twice against Brann, but was unfortunate to only come away with a point as they drew 3-3.
CB: Auston Trusty
Again, Auston Trusty is in this XI for his excellent defending, but he did manage to score a crucial goal against Bologna while Celtic were down to ten men.
The Celts would eventually draw 2-2, but Trusty did plenty of solid work at the back to ensure they at least came away with a point.
CB: Tsuyoshi Watanabe
Feyenoord have had a rough season, but they could have no complaints when they demolished Strum Graz by a score of 3-0.
Tsuyoshi Watanabe scored their first goal of the game, then went on to secure a clean sheet for his team. Feyenoord’s playoff dreams are on life support, but they would have completely flatlined without a win on Thursday night.
