Kevin Durant passes 19-year vet on NBA leaderboard—who’s next?

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant continues making NBA history as the 2025-2026 NBA season continues.

On Friday night, Durant moved up the NBA’s all-time three-pointers list once again. He’s now just one move outside of finally cracking the top 10.

With 2,283 threes, Durant surpassed Jason Terry. The NBA sent out a message to congratulate him shortly after.

via @NBA: Congrats to @KDTrey5 of the @HoustonRockets for moving into 11th on the all-time THREE-POINTERS MADE list!

What’s Next for Kevin Durant?

To get to No. 10, the climb isn’t too much higher. Durant is now chasing the legendary Vince Carter. Carter is sitting with 2,290 threes. Durant could be making the next move sometime soon.

After that, the list gets steeper. Paul George is No. 9 with 2,405 and counting. Inside the top 10, there are six players who are still active in George, LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, James Harden, and the leader, Steph Curry.

The others are Kyle Korver, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, and Carter.

This season, Durant is on a mission to help the Rockets win a title. Over the past two seasons, Houston has been one of the most notable risers in the NBA. Unfortunately, they struggled to see their regular-season success translate into the playoffs.

A big swing for Kevin Durant (from the Phoenix Suns) was expected to help the Rockets gain a better look. While the season has seen its ups and downs from Houston, the Rockets entered Friday’s action with a 26-16 record, which was good for fourth place in the Western Conference.

The Rockets are trailing the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. A win in Detroit will help them inch slightly closer to Denver. After facing the Pistons, Durant and the Rockets will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
