Journalist Claims“Liverpool Are Thinking About”£87M Transfer And He Predicts“Offer”Could Be Made This Month

Bild journalist Christian Falk has refused to rule out Liverpool from making a bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande this month.

Writing on his website CF Bayern Insider, Falk said the Reds would seriously consider matching the Ivorian international’s asking price:

“Oliver Mintzlaff, a managing director at Red Bull, has been very clear about how much money they’d be looking to get for Diomande. He said, ‘We won’t sell him for €80m, we won’t sell him for €90m’ – which means they’ll just try to sell him for over €100m [£87m].”

“There are rumours that Liverpool are thinking about such a deal and that there will be an offer in the next month of this range.”

Slot has already said that arrivals are unlikely

In his pre-match press conference before the game against Bournemouth, head coach Arne Slot was asked whether it would be a quiet end to the transfer window, and he replied:

“That is what I expect, but I always say when there is an opportunity in the market where we think we can strengthen the squad, this club will always try to do so. But at this moment, I expect it to stay mainly the same.”

Diomande is a target for Liverpool

Falk references “rumours” and the speculation about the 19-year-old does come from respectable sources. Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has confirmed that the Reds are tracking the teenager.

The Merseysiders are said to be one of five teams “monitoring” Diomande, along with Manchester United, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that an approach is imminent. €100m (£87m) is a huge sum to pay for anyone, let alone a player who has only been playing professional football for 10 months. It is, though, a transfer to keep an eye on.
