Doc Rivers confirmed Giannis Antetokounmpo was unable to finish Friday night's game against the Nuggets due to a calf injury, saying, "I didn’t like what my eyes were seeing."
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was unable to finish the game against the Denver Nuggets, going down with a non-contact leg injury with 40 seconds left.
After the game Bucks head coach Doc Rivers provided an update on Giannis' injury. Coach confirmed it was the calf injury that prevented him from finishing the game.
"Calf," Rivers stated after the game.
"I thought he was favoring it for the load for most of the second half personally. I asked our team five different times. I didn't like what my eyes were seeing personally," he said.
"Giannis was defiant about staying in. On that one play, you could see him trying to run down the floor. To me, I had enough. I didn't ask, I just took him out. He actually wanted to go back in, it just that was a no for me."
Coach also said that there was no disagreement in their brief talk after the game, saying he had to be held out in the last seconds.
"He should have been out. There was no no disagreement or anything like that," coach explained.
Giannis finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Earlier in the season, Giannis missed eight games with a calf strain, and by the looks of it, he could be dealing with a similar injury once again.
In total Giannis has missed 16 games this season due to injuries, averaging 28.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.
With this loss, the Bucks fell to an 18-26 record, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference.
