Giannis Antetokounmpo says he believes he will be out for four to six weeks after suffering a calf injury against the Nuggets.
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo went down with a concerning right calf injury in a 100–102 loss against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
With around 40 seconds left in the game, while running on a fast break, Giannis quickly stopped and grabbed his lower right leg.
He quickly left for the locker room before returning to the bench with seconds remaining in the game.
After the game, Giannis confirmed he was feeling it the entire game and had to stop simply because he couldn't move anymore.
"Doesn't matter when I felt it. Doesn't matter. I wasn't able to finish the game," Giannis said.
"I was feeling it the majority of the game, but I did not want to stop playing. At the end, I could not move anymore, so I had to stop. It gradually got worse over the course of the game the more I played."
Giannis believes this will be another one of those injuries, saying he will most likely miss four to six weeks with this injury.
"Probably the next steps will be to go get an MRI tomorrow. After the MRI, they will tell me probably I popped something in my calf or in my shoulders or something. Probably give me a protocol of four to six weeks that I'll be out," he noted.
"This is from my experience being around the NBA. After that, I'm going to work my butt off to come back. That will probably be the end of February, beginning of March. Hopefully the team is in a place where we can at least make the play-in or make the playoffs, and just take it day by day, try to get better," he added.
Giannis finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
Earlier in the season, Giannis missed eight games with a calf strain, and by the looks of it, he could be dealing with a similar injury once again.
In total, Giannis has missed 16 games this season due to injuries, while averaging 28.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.
With this loss, the Bucks fell to an 18–26 record, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference.
