Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news gossip and transfer latest that you may have missed…
Jean-Philippe Mateta has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave the club this month, amid the many reports that the likes of Chelsea are very much interested in getting a transfer deal done.
CHELSEA spent some serious money in the transfer window adding some quality players to that attack, with the arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap two stars that were supposed to be the forwards that would bang in the goals.
Both players have put in some impressive performances at times this season, but there is a feeling that Liam Rosenior needs a more powerful striker to lead that Chelsea attack in order to get back into the Champions League next season.
Aston Villa and Juventus are interested in signing the Eagles striker in January, but reports on the Daily Mail website have now claimed that Chelsea are one of the clubs that could make a surprise move for Mateta.
Palace are not actively trying to sell the 28-year-old, who has 18 months left on his contract, and It would require a significant offer for Palace to be tempted to sell the player, but he has told the club he wants out.
Mateta’s desire to leave comes after Palace captain Marc Guehi joined Manchester City in a £20m deal, while boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave at the end of the season.
IcChelsea news says..
Mateta is not the massive name signing that we need, his age may put the CHELSEA board off, but if Rosenior wants a striker that will worry Premier League defenders, that will score goals, he could be a great short-term signing.
He would not cost alot of money, maybe around £35 million, so he could be a solid addition right? Especially as the club have really struggled for goals this season already and need someone that will help improve both Delap and Pedro.
ELLIOT WANTED
Chelsea are ready to pay over £100 million to try and secure the services of Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.
This transfer window has now seen much action for Chelsea in terms of players coming and going, but it has already been chaotic after the club opted to let Enzo Maresca eave the club on new years Day.
Liam Rosenior is in charge of CHELSEA, with alot of pressure on the former Strasbourg boss to make an immediate impact considering the board want Champions League football for next season, and maybe a trophy added too.
The 23-year-old Anderson has excelled since leaving Newcastle for the City Ground and is now firmly established as part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next summer’s World Cup.
Unsurprisingly, Anderson’s form has alerted a number of leading Premier League clubs with the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham all reportedly interested in a deal for the talented midfielder.
And according to Ben Jacobs, CHELSEA are definitely interested in signing Elliot.
However, on top of that massive price tag, a potential hurdle to this deal is that Manchester City are currently seen as favourites to land the Englishman’s signature.
IcChelseanews Says…
It is very easy to see why all the big clubs wants Anderson, he has been so impressive for Forest and a player that could become one of the best in his position, but he needs to make the right career choices.
We would like him here, he is a very solid player that has so much potential.
ALVAREZ OPEN TO CHELSEA MOVE?
Spanish giants Athletico Madrid are open to letting star striker Julian Alvarez leave the club at the end of the season
The Argentine was never a guaranteed starter at Man City but still scored 36 goals across two seasons at the club and won the Champions League and FA Cup as well as the two league titles.
Alvarez has enjoyed a productive spell in the Spanish capital since his £82m move from Manchester City in 2024, scoring 29 goals during his first season at Atletico, and the 25-year-old Argentina international, who won two Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium, has scored another 11 goals so far this season.
But according to the Daily Mail, CHELSEA have joined the growing list of clubs who are interested in signing Alvarez and although Madrid have so far shown no desire to sell Alvarez, it is claimed a summer move is possible if suitors are prepared to pay 100m euros (£87m).
And the reports also suggests that Alvarez would be open to making a move back to the Premier League
Asked about the speculation surrounding his future at Atletico last month, Alvarez said: ‘Look, it doesn’t bother me. I try not to pay much attention, but I know what’s being said.
‘It’s all over social media. I think it’s more what’s being said online than what’s actually happening.
‘I’m very focused on this season, on what lies ahead with Atletico Madrid. So, I try to tune it out and think about myself, about continuing to grow as a player, and about winning.’
IcChelseanews says…
Alvarez is a top striker right guys? His movement, his quality and his ability to score on a regular basis is something that we are lacking at times. And to be honest, a fee of £87 million is not alot of money to pay these days is it
