Tottenham Hotspur's move to sign Liverpool star Andy Robertson would be worth a minimal fee if a deal is agreed between the clubs, according to journalist Alasdair Gold.
The Lilywhites made a surprise move to sign the Scotland international on Friday, as they brought forward their interest for a potential free transfer in the summer to this month following the broken ankle suffered by Ben Davies.
Robertson is out of contract at Anfield in the summer, and Liverpool have opened talks about a deal to see him leave as he is keen to see his long-term future sorted quickly, but they are unlikely to find themselves earning a big fee by letting him go six months early.
Tottenham Move for Robertson Likely Low Fee

Robertson is set to turn 32 in February, and there have been reports that Spurs could be set to pay a significant fee to tempt Liverpool to let the player leave mid-season.
However, while writing on his personal X account, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that he has been told that any fee will be 'far lower' than the numbers being floated around should a deal be agreed.
"Understand with the Andy Robertson deal, if an agreement is reached for Spurs to sign him now it will be far lower than some of the numbers floating around."
"Just six months left on his deal, and he turns 32 in about six weeks," Gold continued.
"Spurs have identified [the] need for more experience and leadership in the group, hence Gallagher's arrival and hopefully Robertson, who would come with the mentality of winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League among numerous trophies.
"Spurs trying to shift the culture inside the club to pass on to younger players.
"Of course, both also homegrown players to replace Johnson and Davies, with his contract expiring this summer after 12 years at Spurs. "It's clear Tottenham still need at least one attacking addition but there's a logic behind this move with Udogie's availability issues as well."
Robertson Deal Perfect for Spurs
Thomas Frank
While Spurs have got far more glaring issues in their squad at the moment, the addition of Robertson for a minimal fee would be good business.
As mentioned, he would bring fantastic leadership qualities and experience on the pitch, but his role in the dressing room to help younger players would be immeasurable, and considering how their season has gone so far, that is desperately needed.
It's a win-win situation for all involved, and it seems to be heading in the right direction too, with personal terms already agreed too.
