Liverpool to confirm official Andy Robertson decision as Tottenham Hotspur transfer fee emerges

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Liverpool vice-captain Andy Robertson during the January transfer window.

Liverpool are set to confirm Andy Robertson in their match-day squad for the Premier League clash against AFC Bournemouth amid uncertainty over his future.

The left-back could bring the curtain down on his eight-and-a-half year Anfield career, with Tottenham Hotspur keen to sign him during the January transfer window.

Robertson has etched himself into Reds folklore, having been signed for just £8 million from Hull City in 2017. He was a key player as Liverpool returned to the pinnacle of European football, with Robertson winning eight major trophies on Merseyside - including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

But the arrival of Milos Kerkez for £40 million has pushed Robertson down the pecking order this season, despite being appointed vice-captain after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure. The 31-year-old has made only four Premier League starts and he was an unused substitute in the 3-0 Champions League win over Marseille earlier this week.

With Robertson out of contract at Anfield in the summer, Tottenham are keen to snap up the experienced full-back following an injury to Ben Davies. The Times reports that Spurs are willing to pay a transfer fee of £3 million plus add-ons.

With Scotland qualifying for the World Cup later this year, Robertson may feel he needs regular football to take momentum into the tournament. He was wanted by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last summer but decided to stay at Liverpool.

However, Robertson is expected to be involved in Liverpool’s game when they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday (17.30 GMT). The Reds will already be without three defenders as Ibrahima Konate has been given compassionate leave following the passing of his father, while Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni have respective long-term knee injuries. Liverpool’s official squad against Bournemouth will be released at 16.15 GMT.

Speaking on his future earlier this month, Robertson said: "I've got five months left and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there's options to go and things like that. I need to sit down with my family and decide.

"I can focus on the last eight and a half years. I think Jurgen Klopp left me out for one game and I was raging. So I'm a player who wants to play. I've played through injuries. I've played when I'm not 100% fit. I've played when I've only been 50/40/30% fit for this club and my country. I always want to be on the grass and playing and obviously now that's not happening, so that's what is different."

Should Robertson be given the green light to leave Liverpool, it will mean that Kostas Tsimikas is recalled from his loan spell at AS Roma. Tsimikas has struggled for minutes in the Italian capital.
