Chelsea star tipped to reach ‘scary’ levels by Liam Rosenior, ‘got a great connection’

New Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior will now have an idea of who he trusts to be part of his key group of players after taking charge of four games.

Rosenior has led the Blues into battle in all four competitions they are battling for this season, and he has chopped and changed the starting squad based on the level of opponent.

As expected, the manager has been wowed by Cole Palmer, despite the fact that injuries have restricted him to just one appearance since he took over.

There was even a glimmer of hope for Axel Disasi, who has returned to first team training, although reports continue to link him away from Stamford Bridge before the end of the January transfer window.

Liam Rosenior tips Robert Sanchez to reach a ‘scary’ level at Chelsea

The goalkeeper position has been the one to see the most changes. Both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have played two games each since the Englishman took over.

Jorgensen was forced off injured against Pafos, meaning Sanchez is likely to enjoy an extended run in the team.

Rosenior has shared that he has previously played with and coached Sanchez when he was a youngster, and believes he has the potential to improve to a ‘scary level’.

He said to Mail Plus: “I trained with Rob, and I coached Rob with Brighton’s Under 23s. At that point, we knew what his potential was. I said to him when I came in, ‘I’m so proud of you’. To be at this club, to see how his career has progressed.

“He’s got two children. I saw Rob when he was 17 years old, when he was a kid talking about passing his driving test. I’ve got a great connection with him. The scary thing with Rob is I know how much he can improve as well and he’s already playing at a really high level.”

Sanchez continues to show vast improvement

The Spaniard was public enemy number one a lot at Stamford Bridge due to underwhelming performances, although this is a thing of the past.

Rosenior picked out Sanchez for praise after victory against Brentford in the Premier League, and will be hoping he will be at the same level when they face Crystal Palace.

No wins against Palace since Mauricio Pochettino was in charge…

The boss also backed Sanchez when he struggled against Arsenal, and he seems to have restricted Chelsea from wanting to spend money on a new goalkeeper.

Mike Maignan has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past, and despite the fact that he is a free agent in the summer, the Blues may just back their number one for the foreseeable future.
