Andy Robertson has emerged as a realistic transfer target for Tottenham this month, and reports state Thomas Frank’s side are “willing” to pay a fee of “around” £3 million.
Friday brought unexpected news that Liverpool are in talks with Tottenham over the transfer of their vice-captain, with the Scot ready to resolve his future ahead of entering free agency status.
A departure would only be sanctioned if it was in the best interests of both player and club, and it would prompt the recall of Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.
As for the potential fee being discussed, the *Times*‘ Paul Joyce has reported Spurs “would be willing to pay a fee of around £3 million plus add-ons” for the 31-year-old this month.
Liverpool signed Robertson for £8.5 million from Hull in 2017, he has since gone on to make 363 appearances for the club.
Frank has “wanted to add more experience, leadership and character to his squad,” and would likely have been encouraged to look at Robertson by his new assistant John Heitinga.
Arne Slot‘s former assistant made a surprise return to the Premier League earlier this month to work alongside the under-pressure Frank, months after he was sacked as Ajax’s head coach.

Although there is uncertainty over whether Robertson will remain at Liverpool beyond January, Joyce states the No. 26 has travelled with the squad to Bournemouth.
TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, meanwhile, has claimed that Robertson’s exit, if sanctioned, could be handled similarly to that of Antoine Semenyo’s, as he would also be “expected to feature” against Qarabag on Wednesday.
The Champions League fixture would then serve as a farewell to Anfield for the Scot.
Liverpool have one final match before the transfer window closes on February 2, Newcastle‘s visit on January 31, but that is likely too close to the deadline for any involvement.
With Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley already sidelined, losing Robertson permanently and replacing him with Tsimikas does not strengthen Slot’s squad in the manner supporters had wished.
Instead, it would needlessly leave options incredibly thin, and Liverpool would also be losing an experienced figure and an influential voice in the dressing room.
