Liam Rosenior describes the job Enzo Maresca did at Chelsea in just one word

Liam Rosenior has been handed the tough task of rescuing Chelsea’s season after the wheels began to fall off in the final weeks before he took over.

The Blues won just two of the 10 games before Rosenior took over, with Enzo Maresca in charge of the club for eight of those games.

The decision to replace the Italian has not gone down brilliantly. Chelsea fans chanted Maresca’s name at the recent protest at Stamford Bridge.

Despite this, Rosenior has made a quietly strong start to life in charge of the Blues. He has won three of the four games he has taken charge of, only losing against Arsenal in the EFL Cup.

Liam Rosenior describes Enzo Maresca’s time at Chelsea as ‘fantastic’

The pressure is on the Englishman to qualify for the Champions League, although doesn’t believe he has been given a bad hand by the former manager.

The Englishman has described the job Maresca did in West London as ‘fantastic’, praising his style of play.

He told ‘The 2 Robbies’: “I think if you look at all of the managers now at the highest level, I thought Enzo did a fantastic job before me. And tactically, the way that he had the team playing was really consistent. You knew what it looked like.

“But the way of playing now is so similar, whether it’s Mikel at Arsenal or Vincent at Bayern or Pep or even Slot at Liverpool. There are certain similarities in everything that the teams are doing. There may be differences in press, but in terms of positioning of players, it’s all very similar.

“So my idea is not dissimilar to Enzo. I’m a different personality. I have different demands without the ball and with the ball, which is normal, because we’re all different in our own way.”

Rosenior’s persona catching the eye

Despite his lack of experience as a top-level manager, it is clear the current Chelsea manager speaks very well.

This has not gone down well with everyone. Jamie Carragher believes Rosenior comes across overconfident.

Overall, the new manager will only be able to win supporters and pundits alike over is through performances and results on the pitch.

His next opportunity to do that is against Crystal Palace on Sunday, with the aim this weekend being to break back into the top five.
