Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund have shown interest in Barcelona’s Dro Fernández in the winter market.
Journalist Marc Mechenoua took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Manchester City, Chelsea and others.
Two months ago, Sport stated Pep Guardiola’s side failed to bring the 18-year-old to the Etihad last summer. This convinced Hansi Flick to promote him to the first team.
The attacking midfielder has played 148 minutes from five matches. He came off the bench in the La Liga winners’ 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid on December 2nd and hasn’t featured since then.
Dro is unhappy with the limited role at the Camp Nou and informed Flick of his desire to leave Barcelona. He turned 18 years of age on January 12th and has €6m release clause in his contract until 2027.
Last weekend, El Desmarque reported Barcelona failed to extend his contract before he turned 18. This has alerted other clubs, including Manchester City.
They stated Guardiola’s side are closing in on a move and could complete the deal in the coming days. Chelsea weren’t mentioned.
Mechenoua picks up on that and reports on Manchester City, Chelsea and BVB’s desire to sign the youngster.
Recent claims in Spain and France have explained the Barcelona player will join PSG. The journalist claims Manchester City, Chelsea and BVB have been ‘very aggressive’ in their attempt to convince Dro to change his mind over moving to Paris.
The Premier League duo have been in repeated contact with the Spaniard’s agent. This is probably to put pressure on the representative. The Bundesliga club, on the other hand, made multiple offers. These clubs’ efforts to hijack PSG’s signing may not be successful.
In another post on X, Mechenoua report that negotiations are ongoing between Barcelona and PSG.
The ties between the two clubs previously deteriorated following Neymar and Ousmane Dembélé’s moves to Paris.
Mechenoua claims the relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and his PSG counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaifi has improved. Despite this, the French club want to be cautious in their approach to not upset the Blaugrana.
