Chelsea seems to be popping up in all kinds of transfer situations, and there’s a new one today.
The Jeremy Jacquet saga continues to drag on at Chelsea, with no clear breakthrough as of yet, as Rennes continue to stand their ground on price.
Chelsea are also believed to be in talks with Douglas Luiz in what would be a loan without an obligation to buy, to allow Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo time to recover.

It’s a difficult decision for Chelsea to make. Both Lavia and Essugo have proven they’re prone to an injury, so to rely on four other midfielders is brave when there’s sometimes a midfield three.
The Blues have always said they’ll look at opportunities, and that’s what has popped up now.
Chelsea want to sign Ibrahim Mbaye before transfer deadline
Florian Plettenberg has been keeping us up to date with all the transfers going on at Chelsea of late, and now he’s got a new one.
Several Premier League clubs would love to sign Ibrahim Mbaye before Deadline Day.
Chelsea and Aston Villa are closely monitoring him.
But it won’t be easy, as PSG wants to keep him and a new contract is even possible. There are currently no thoughts of letting him go, plus he is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028.
Interestingly, the winger is a part of the same agency as Reece James, Golden Gate Group.

Does Chelsea really need Ibrahim Mbaye?
Chelsea already have plenty of options out wide, with the likes of Estevao Willian, Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, and Jamie Gittens all featuring this season.
Of course, he could be another to bring in and send off to Strasbourg at just 18 years of age, but he won’t come cheap at all.
It seems as if Chelsea are doing all of their scouting at AFCON at this moment in time. He was a breakout star in the 2025 tournament, helping Senegal win the trophy.
And at PSG he’s already lifted the Champions League.
One thing that may be attracting the Blues to Mbaye is the fact that he is one of the fastest players in the PSG squad, clocking a top speed of 33.87 km/h.
