Adidas are set to drop Liverpool's best home kit in years if latest leaks are correct - opinion

Despite their team being below-par on the pitch this season, Liverpool supporters have at least been able to look good off it.

There was huge excitement before the start of the new campaign as the Reds signed a deal with Adidas for the first time since 2012.

In the eyes of many Liverpool fans, Adidas and the Reds belong together, and the German sportswear supplier did not disappoint with this season’s kits.

Although the green third kit stole the show, Liverpool’s home shirt has also been hugely popular. Simple, clean and classic, it just looks like a Liverpool strip.

Such is the nature of football shirt culture these days, though, it will not be long before fans are looking ahead to next year’s offerings. And having played it somewhat safe for their opening year back at Anfield, latest leaks suggest Adidas are about to go bold in 2026/27, to brilliant effect.

Liverpool’s leaked 2026/27 home kit looks amazing

Liverpool have had so many iconic Adidas kits down the years that the design team have plenty to work from throughout their reported 10-year deal with the Reds.

One of the most celebrated Liverpool kits of all-time is the 1989-1991 home shirt, with the white and red shards of glass pattern instantly recognisable alongside the ‘Candy’ sponsor.

Although Candy will not be making a return in 2026, the iconic shirt pattern apparently will be.

As per reliable football kit leaks site Footy Headlines, Liverpool will be decked out in a remake of the 1989 classic next season.

A deeper, ‘Active Maroon’ shade of red than this year’s choice, the latest leaks suggest the strip will feature a rounded white collar with matching cuffs.

New kit could be Liverpool’s best in years

While there may be mixed reviews from younger supporters, the 2026/27 home shirt is likely to strike the right chord with Reds fans of a certain age.

Although nothing is ever as good as the original where football kit remakes are concerned, this looks set to be a strong effort from Adidas which will make supporters fall back in love with their misfiring club once again.

Initial impressions are that it could even be Liverpool’s best kit of the 21st century, although New Balance’s celebrated 2017/18 effort and the 2019/20 Premier League title-winning strip might have something to say about that.

As of yet, there appears to be no new information on what Adidas are planning for Liverpool’s away and third picks for the 26/27 campaign, but after a brilliant start on the kits front this season, they appear ready to kick on in a big way.

We await further leaks with bated breath. If anything could tempt us to part with the £100+ needed to buy a Liverpool shirt these days, then this will be it.
