Dastan Satpaev Kazakhstan’s Aguero Moment

Dastan Satpaev has recreated the Aguero moment that left the fans speechless. Kazakhstan isn’t a nation known for its love of football. That doesn’t mean it’s non-existent, however, and with a new teenage sensation emerging as one of the country’s best players already. The nation sandwiched between Europe and Asia could be on the verge of a golden generation. Dastan Satpaev won’t turn 18 until August, but that hasn’t stopped him maximizing his career to date. Only Barcelona starlets Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati can say they were younger than Satpaev was when he first scored a Champions League goal. Aged just 17 years, three months, and 14 days.

The forward recently became the youngest goalscorer in Kazakhstan’s history when he scored against Belgium. And Wednesday night saw him find the net for the first time in the Champions League. Despite losing 3-2 to FC Copenhagen. Satpaev’s goal was another moment in history for him, becoming the first player from Kazakhstan to score in the Champions League. His goal also put him third in the list for the youngest goalscorers in the competition. Only behind Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal. He is now in esteemed company. Despite the fact that Chelsea fans have just seen Marc Cucurella pocket Yamal in their win over Barcelona. There is a lot of excitement over the impact the youngster will make when he moves to Stamford Bridge. He has already been tipped to be better than Nicolas Jackson in two years’ time. It seems as if the Blues do not want to wait long before they take a proper look at him. Chelsea will sign Satpaev at the end of the season.

Those reports yesterday were right.

Chelsea want another 6-7 types of players like Palmer and Estevao, and you could see that last night.

Who is Satpaev, the guy that recreated the Aguero moment?

Satpaev was born on August 12, 2008, in Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, and by the age of eight had joined the youth ranks of Kairat. There was something extraordinary about him that stood out from even a young age, with local sports reporters hailing Satpaev as a ‘prodigy’ and a ‘genius’. Despite being at least two years younger than most of his competitors. Kairat promoted Satpaev into their Under-18s side when he was 15, and he still made fools of the opposition. Across the 2023 and 2024 seasons in the developmental QJ League. He provided 26 goals and 10 assists in 28 matches, winning the competition’s MVP award for the second of those campaigns. Unsurprisingly, Satpaev’s performances were picked up by Kazakhstan’s national youth teams, too. He was immediately thrust into a higher age group. This time the U17s. He scored four goals in 10 games, and the club then moved him to the U21 and senior sides instead.

The great breakthrough

Amidst his scoring exploits in the QJ League, Satpaev was called into Kairat’s first-team squad towards the start of their 2024 season. He made his senior debut while still 15 in March 2024. Coming off the bench in a 9-0 win over Akzhayik in Kazakhstan’s League Cup. Satpaev went on to make five league appearances for Kairat’s B team in the second tier during that season, and he even popped up with a 90th-minute winner—his first professional goal—in a 1-0 victory away to Tapaz in August 2024. Chelsea have had a coach working with Kazakhstan star throughout the campaign in order to get him ready for European football, hoping he will have the same impact as Estevao when he does arrive.
