Cody Gakpo replaces Hugo Ekitike at Bournemouth as Liverpool go in search of a first Premier League win of 2026.
Gakpo scored his seventh goal of the campaign with the last kick of the game in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win at Marseille in the Champions League and he replaces France international Ekitike at the Vitality as Arne Slot looks to utilise the 4-2-2-2 formation once more.
That means Mohamed Salah makes his first Premier League start for two months as the Egyptian is named up top alongside Gakpo. Salah played the full game on Wednesday in what was his first Liverpool appearance for over a month, due to his participation at the Africa Cup of Nations and the Egypt star keeps his place.
Florian Wirtz is named alongside the in-form Dominik Szoboszlai behind the front two with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch stationed further back. Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo are available from the bench.
Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez start at right and left-back, respectively, with Joe Gomez continuing to deputise for Ibrahima Konate, who remains on compassionate leave following the passing of his father in France.
It's Gomez's first start at centre-back in the Premier League since December 2024.
Liverpool: Alisson; Frimpong, Gomez, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Wirtz.
Subs: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Endo, Robertson, Jones, Nyoni, Ekitike, Ngumoha, Ramsay.
