Morant to be re-evaluated in three weeks with elbow injury

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant will miss at least the next three weeks with a UCL sprain in his left elbow, the team announced on Saturday morning.

Morant suffered the injury when he hit his arm on the backboard while blocking a shot in Wednesday’s game against the Hawks. He indicated after the game he didn’t think the injury was serious, but was then ruled out for Friday’s game against the Pelicans and now will be out even longer.

Was off yesterday but found the play where he got hurt on, remembered following him with my shot.

You can see him favoring his left arm and talking with Iisalo before he goes to inbound the ball. Didn't think it was anything major, as he said postgame.

The #2 pick in the 2019 draft, Morant has been subject to trade rumors in the last few weeks, with the team being open to dealing him for the first time in his career. With the NBA Trade Deadline looming on February 5, if Morant is dealt in-season, he’s already played his last game in a Memphis uniform.

The two-time All-Star has only played in 20 of the Grizzlies’ 43 games this season as he’s dealt with a litany of injuries. He’s averaging 19.5 points and 8.1 assists per game.
