Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is likely to snub Manchester United in favour of a move to rivals Manchester City this summer, according to iNews journalist Pete Hall.
The Old Trafford side are believed to be targeting Anderson as part of their midfield rebuild, with Casemiro’s departure set to put the club on the market for a replacement after the season.
However, United are expected to face significant competition for the 23-year-old’s signature from City, while Chelsea could also be in the mix.
Anderson has been one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders this term and has solidified his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England XI ahead of the World Cup.

According to Hall, Casemiro’s departure after the season could see United move for at least three new midfield signings.
At present, moves for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton appear most likely, as there is a ‘growing belief’ Anderson would snub Old Trafford for a switch to Man City.
As GIVEMESPORT revealed previously, Forest are expected to demand a fee in excess of £50m for the ‘superstar’ midfielder, who joined the City Ground side from Newcastle for £35m in the summer of 2024.
Anderson’s departure in the final week of the January transfer window remains highly unlikely, particularly given Forest’s precarious Premier League position.
Sean Dyche's side are just 17th in the table, two points above West Ham, ahead of their visit to Brentford on Sunday.
Anderson has played every minute of Forest’s league campaign so far, scoring once and registering two assists in 22 appearances.
Man Utd to Open Mainoo Contract Talks
Kobbie Mainoo
Manchester United are expected to open contract talks with Kobbie Mainoo soon after Casemiro’s departure announcement, according to reports.
The Red Devils are reportedly looking to tie down their academy graduate to a new, improved long-term deal, as Mainoo is one of the lowest earners in the squad.
A new agreement would reportedly bring him more in line with his Old Trafford teammates, while Casemiro’s free transfer exit after the season is set to free up significant wages.
The 33-year-old Brazilian is believed to be United’s second-highest earner after captain Bruno Fernandes, taking home around £300,000 per week.
