Liverpool injury update on Joe Gomez.
Liverpool have suffered a new injury concern during their Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
The Reds saw Joe Gomez forced off in the first half. The centre-back sustained his issue in the process of Evanilson opening the scoring for the Cherries on 26 minutes.
Gomez threw himself at Evanilson when shooting and was inadvertently hurt by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Gomez received treatment but he could not continue and was replaced by Wataru Endo.
While Liverpool were waiting to make the change, and were temporarily playing with 10 men, Bournemouth doubled their lead through Alex Jimenez.
The Reds are now sweating on Gomez’s fitness. The centre-back was handed successive starts in the absence of Ibrahima Konate, who has been granted compassionate leave following the passing of his father. Liverpool are already without defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni because of long-term knee injuries.
Arne Slot’s side are in the middle of a busy fixture schedule. They face Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday and a victory will guarantee a place in the last 16 before Newcastle United visit Anfield on Saturday 31 January.
