Enzo Maresca’s exit from Chelsea caused plenty of controversy, and now fans via our TalkingPoints hub have shared their preference between him and Liam Rosenior.
The Chelsea owners haven’t made things easier for Liam Rosenior, getting rid of a much-liked manager like Enzo Maresca after winning two trophies at Stamford Bridge.
Before winning the UEFA Conference League on May 28, 2025, Chelsea had gone exactly four years without a major trophy, yet it wasn’t held with much value.
Just seven months later, Maresca is told to leave Chelsea after being crowned the best team in the world via the Club World Cup.
As you’d expect, Maresca’s departure went down horribly with Chelsea fans.
Liam Rosenior’s appointment was respected, but the pressure already on his shoulders is massive.

Chelsea fans are perfectly happy to give Liam Rosenior a chance
We asked Chelsea fans who they would prefer to have as the manager right now at Stamford Bridge.
The results are rather eye-opening.
One fan replied straight up with “Liam Rosenior.”
Another is willing to give Rosenior a chance.
“Maresca was good, but I feel his style of play was negative and not really Chelsea. I’m giving Rosenior a chance, if he is as good as he talks, we will be ok.”

Maresca’s ‘boring’ approach was also mentioned.
“Rosenior, he deserves a chance. Never took to Maresca as a person or a manager, and his football was far too boring and painful to watch.”
One supporter has enjoyed the positive outlook Rosenior has had since joining.
“It’s early days, but Liam said he wants to play exciting football, on the front foot, & getting fans on the edge of their seats. I hope his enthusiasm transcends to the team, instead of the side-to-side & fiddling around in front of our own goal stuff that we’ve had to endure for too long.”
A supporter even went as far as suggesting Maresca thought he was too big for the club.
“Rosenior. Maresca thought he was bigger than the club. He was wrong. Rosenior is such an excellent communicator, and he’s a young guy. I think he could end up being very successful with the youthful blues.”

Lastly, it was Maresca going public that turned this fan away.
“Liam Rosenior. All credit and respect to Enzo for the trophies and making us World Champions again, but the moment he wasn’t backed in the transfer window, he should’ve spoken in private to the top people and complained that way instead of in public. You don’t do that, no matter who you are. Liam has been more proactive with substitutions than Enzo.”
