Michael Carrick has been handed a boost ahead of his side’s game against Arsenal as Noussair Mazraoui has travelled with the team to London. Mazraoui has been away with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and hasn't featured for the Reds since the 4-1 win over Wolves at the start of December.
But while Mazraoui was pictured with his team-mates on Saturday afternoon, will miss the game at the Emirates Stadium due to a back injury. Speaking on Friday, Carrick provided an update on the defender, saying: "I think it was just a little bit slower than initially hoped, but he’s certainly getting closer.
"Hopefully, the next couple of weeks, without putting an exact timeline on it, he’ll be back and it’ll be great to have him back." United made a winning start under Carrick with a convincing 2-0 win over title-chasing rivals last weekend.
