Jamie Redknapp was left fuming with Liverpool taking so long to replace Joe Gomez against Bournemouth, with the long delay proving costly.
Gomez had to be replaced midway through the first half after he collided with Alisson Becker in trying to prevent Evanilson from scoring Bournemouth’s opening goal. The England international’s withdrawal will add to the Reds’ concerns as injuries continue to pile up in defense.
Despite Gomez being unable to continue and Wataru Endo being called from the bench to replace him, it wasn’t until the 35th minute that the midfielder made his way onto the pitch - nine minutes after Bournemouth’s opener, and two after the hosts had doubled their lead.

Liverpool had opportunities to bring Endo on earlier, but the midfielder was busy receiving instructions from Slot and his coaching staff, much to Redknapp’s annoyance.
“You can tell it’s a bad collision, and with Joe Gomez’s history with injuries,” the former Liverpool captain told Sky Sports.
“Then you get seven minutes to make a substitution. This is one opportunity, this is a free-kick. Endo comes on, he’s obviously not ready at this minute, I’ve no idea why, you’re now playing with 10 men.

“Arne Slot is thinking ‘we’ve got to make a change because we don’t want to concede another goal’. They’re telling him what to do, just get him on the pitch, don’t worry about giving him all that information right now, you could concede a goal.”
“That was two minutes, they still wait seven minutes.”
Redknapp then pointed to another chance Liverpool had to make the change, when Slot could be seen telling Alisson to kick the ball out of play, only for the goalkeeper to carry on playing.
That prevented Endo from coming on, with Bournemouth going on to make it 2-0 through Alex Jimenez before the Japan international was eventually introduced.

“It’s difficult, Alisson, could he kick it out of play?” Redknapp added. “Anything just to make this substitution happen. They get him on too late.
“Watch Arne Slot at the bottom left-hand side of your screen, he wants that ball, ‘kick it out of play, kick it out of play’ and he [Alisson] obviously doesn’t see it.
“So you’re 1-0, you don’t get him on in time, and then they concede another goal. It’s almost amateurish, that cannot happen. You’ve got to make the decisions, these are the details that could cost you a game.”
