JJ Redick reveals what bothers Lakers this season

JJ Redick believes contract-year pressure is affecting the Los Angeles Lakers, as a roster full of potential free agents focuses too much on individual numbers.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick believes the team's offensive struggles may be influenced by contract-year stress.

Los Angeles Lakers / Schedule

Redick hinted that having a roster loaded with potential free agents is affecting how players approach the game.

"Guys are worried about their futures," Redick noted. "That's what happens when you've got a team full of free agents and player options. It gets in your head a little bit: 'Played five minutes and haven't got a shot yet.' That's a human thing. It's not anybody's fault."

The concern is that some players may be more focused on individual touches and stats rather than the team's overall flow, pace, and decision-making.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are reportedly exploring trades involving Dalton Knecht and expiring contracts to bring in a proven 3-and-D wing before the February 5 trade deadline.

Los Angeles currently sits at 26-17, fifth in the Western Conference, but they have lost six of their last nine games. Their next challenge is a road matchup against the Mavericks, marking Luka Doncic's return to Dallas.
