Liverpool's remarkable 13-match unbeaten streak ended in heartbreaking fashion as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth with a 95th-minute winner in a damaging blow to their top-four aspirations.
The Reds appeared to have salvaged a point after battling back from a two-goal deficit with just 10 minutes remaining. Despite an encouraging opening, Liverpool found themselves trailing 2-0 after 33 minutes following strikes from Evanilson and Alex Jimenez.
The reigning Premier League champions clawed their way back when skipper Virgil van Dijk rekindled hope with a towering header from a corner before the interval.

Alisson Becker, 5 - Had little to occupy him until conceding to Evanilson before quickly shipping another. Left Slot and Sipke Hulshoff frustrated with his inability to boot the ball into touch so Wataru Endo could be introduced moments before Jimenez netted. Made a decent stop from Ryan Christie in the second period but what was he thinking for the Adli strike?
Jeremie Frimpong, 6 - Proved one of Liverpool's most dangerous outlets in the second half before his substitution. They sorely missed his one-on-one menace after his departure until Rio Ngumoha entered the fray, reports the Express.
Joe Gomez, 6 - Delivered some excellent linebreaking passes but was too sluggish to detect the threat for Bournemouth's opener and picked up an injury that saw him withdrawn. His Anfield career remains plagued by fitness concerns.
Virgil van Dijk, 5 - Completely whiffed at the ball before Alex Scott teed up Evanilson in a dreadful error and played Jimenez onside for the second strike. However, a superb header dragged Liverpool back into contention. He showed much more authority after the break until being at fault for Adli's decisive goal.
Milos Kerkez, 4 - Met with jeers on his return to the Vitality Stadium and was woeful for the Jimenez strike, reacting sluggishly to the Spaniard's movement. Withdrawn at the interval.
Ryan Gravenberch, 6 - Rather conservative with his distribution when Liverpool craved more cutting edge but also helped them maintain possession during their dominant spells. Cautioned.
Dominik Szoboszlai, 8 - What would Liverpool do without him? A magnificent corner delivery for the Van Dijk strike. His other set-pieces disappointed but he threaded some excellent passes in open play before being shifted to right-back for the closing half-hour. Then netted the leveller with a stunning free-kick.
Alexis Mac Allister, 5 - Began brightly during Liverpool's commanding opening 25 minutes but his influence waned thereafter and he was substituted before the hour mark.
Florian Wirtz, 6 - Liverpool's most threatening player for large spells of the match but also surrendered possession far too frequently and was culpable of poor decision-making on numerous occasions. Was thwarted by Djordje Petrovic when through on goal.
Cody Gakpo, 4 - Failed to create any meaningful opportunities whilst spearheading the attack. Surprising that he remained on the pitch for so long, registering just one more touch than Gomez, who featured for 39 minutes fewer.
Mohamed Salah, 4 - Salah's first Premier League start since November 9 and he was incredibly wasteful with his final product. Had netted seven goals in five league matches away at Bournemouth previously but never appeared likely to find the net here.Earns an assist for the Szoboszlai free-kick.
Substitutes:
Wataru Endo (Gomez, 36), 6 - Appeared lacking match fitness initially but improved as time progressed. Nearly executed a superb through ball to Gakpo but extremely fortunate Evanilson blazed wide at 2-2 after advancing forward to leave the Brazilian clean through.
Andy Robertson (Kerkez, 46), 5 - His final Liverpool outing? Supporters will certainly pray otherwise. Injected pace but was inconsistent with his delivery.
Hugo Ekitike (Mac Allister, 59), 5 - Produced an impressive weaving run on the periphery but otherwise failed to influence proceedings.
Curtis Jones (Frimpong, 59), 6 - Linked up effectively with Wirtz and distributed the ball intelligently.

Rio Ngumoha (Gakpo, 73), 6 - Brought fresh energy and earned the free-kick from which Szoboszlai found the net.
