Arne Slot has claimed that he needs 'all of the players' within the Liverpool squad after being quizzed about Andy Robertson's future at the club. Robertson has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield in recent days as he nears the end of his contract at Anfield.

Liverpool opened preliminary talks with Tottenham Hotspur on Friday over a potential deal for Robertson, whose contract on Merseyside expires at the end of the season.

As the ECHO reported, on Friday, no decision has been made regarding Robertson's future. However, Liverpool have still started up initial discussions with Spurs, who have expressed a desire to sign the left-back before the February 2 deadline.

Robertson made a cameo appearance from the subs bench in Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday night, replacing summer signing Milos Kerkez at half-time.

Slot was asked after the defeat at the Vitality Stadium about Robertson's future, where the Liverpool head coach explained why he needs Robertson in his squad.

"I think I need all of my players," Slot told Sky Sports.

"I thought, let's bring Robbo in at half-time to make sure Milos [Kerkez] stays available for the rest of the season, because there are a lot of games to be played with the players that are available.

"I have to manage that, as well, because the last thing we need right now is another injury."

Slot was also asked more specifically about Liverpool's plans for the remainder of the transfer window, which in turn may offer a hint about Robertson’s future at the club.

"No updates in terms of transfers," Slot said.

"I never speak in public about transfers. There's nothing to say on my side."

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was also asked about the possibility of Robertson joining his squad, where he was quizzed if the Liverpool vice-captain would have made an impact in their 2-2 draw with Burnley.

"Just on that one, in general as you don't know me that well, I don't speak about players that are not in the club - except Ronaldo and Messi," Frank said.

He added: "So, that's no comment."
