According to veteran Knicks insider Ian Begley, the Spurs are a team to watch in the Yabusele trade sweepstakes.
Guerschon Yabusele's wish for a fresh start this season away from the New York Knicks might be fulfilled in the best possible scenario.
San Antonio Spurs / Schedule
In his appearance on SportsNite, Ian Begley stated that in the ongoing Yabusele trade front, the San Antonio Spurs are a team to watch that might pursue the embattled big man.
"In Guerschon Yabusele, I think when this hits the buzzer on deadline day, he'll be with another team. I think they'll figure out where to send him," the longtime Knicks insider and reporter stated.
"San Antonio, keep an eye there because Victor Wembanyama, they played together on the French national team."
Following his spectacular NBA comeback last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Yabusele joined the Knicks via a two-year, $11.275 million contract last July. But both sides failed to meet their expectations, as Yabusele completely fell out of head coach Mike Brown's rotation.
This season, he is just averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.2 minutes across 38 games.
Yabusele and Wembanyama have close ties, considering that they are the current basketball pride of France. The two helped Les Bleus to clinch a silver medal run in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
As such, it'll be interesting to see how the Spurs may take Yabusele and unite him with their franchise star as the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline looms.
