Chelsea are said to be interested in snatching a top new talent from a Champions League rival.

Chelsea are now said to be eyeing a PSG target as they look to strengthen their ranks this month. The Blues are in the market for new additions as they look to help Liam Rosenior guide the team to a top four finish in his opening months in charge.

It has been an inconsistent season from the Blues, but they have kept themselves in the top four race, currently only two points off fourth placed Manchester United.

Chelsea have every chance of securing Champions League football for another season, but they know they need to add a player or two this month. A centre-back is the priority, and Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet looks to be the prime target.

Rosenior could also get a midfielder, though it’s likely to be a cheap or loan deal. Juventus star Douglas Luiz has been mooted as a possible option in the form of a loan deal.

According to a fresh report from Florian Plettenburg, Chelsea are now showing interest in a winger, with PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye potentially on the move.

He posted on X: “Several Premier League clubs would love to sign Ibrahim #Mbaye before Deadline Day. Chelsea and Aston Villa, for example, are closely monitoring him. #CFC However, #PSG want to keep him. A new contract is even possible. There are currently NO thoughts of letting him go. Promising 18 y/o winger is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028.”

The 18-year-old has made 15 Ligue 1 appearances and three Champions League appearances for PSG this season, despite his youth. He has one goal and two assists in the league.

PSG won’t be panicking by any means, with Mbaye under contract until 2028, but clubs do appear to be circling, and Chelsea are said to be one of them. Transfermarkt currently values Mbaye at £21.7million, but PSG would demand much more than that if they were to sell one of their brightest young talents.

Mbaye dazzles at AFCON

Mbaye has been in international action of late, representing Senegal at the African Cup of Nations and winning the competition.

Welcoming the player back to PSG, Parisiens boss Luis Enrique said: "It's always a very good thing to have players coming back from international duty. I'm very happy for him, he's gained experience because he plays a lot with us and he played in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“That must have brought him maturity. All this proves that he's up to the standard. But their return is good news for us." Mbaye made six appearances during Senegal’s run to the AFCON title, scoring once and providing two assists.
