Liverpool 2026 transfer predictions: 6 players sold as Tottenham deal ‘expected’

Liverpool are already making moves on the transfer market as they prepare for what is shaping up to be a significant summer of change. Recent rumours and reports suggest the Reds could part ways with several first team players following a turbulent 2025/26 season.

We could see the first major Anfield departure as early as this month too. Andy Robertson is reportedly nearing a move to Tottenham Hotspur as talks between the two Premier League clubs are now ongoing.

We’ve taken a closer look at the Robertson exit links and predicted which players will leave Liverpool this year and who will stay.

Liverpool players who will stay in 2026

Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili

The Liverpool goalkeeper situation seems to be the least problematic right now. While exit rumours continue to surround players in all other positions, those who operate between the sticks have avoided any major transfer talk so far this season. Alisson’s contract expires next summer but as he remains Liverpool’s No.1, it’s hard to see the club wantin to sell this year, even with Mamardashvili waiting in the wings.

Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez

Liverpool are rebuilding their full-back situation from the long familiar Trent Alexander-Arnold and Robertson era. Bradley continues to impress and will be eager to fight for a regular place next season when he returns from injury. Meanwhile, Frimpong is rising from strength to strength and standing out with his attacking contributions in particular.

Kerkez has had a shaky start to his time at Anfield but the powerhouse Liverpool signed from Bournemouth is slowly starting to reappear. It seems unlikely the Reds will give up on the Hungarian after just one season.

Virgil van Dijk

Whether Van Dijk signs another contract beyond this one remains to be seen but it seems likely he will at least see out his current terms at Anfield. The captain’s contract expires on 30th June 2027, by which time he will be days away from his 36th birthday.

Giovanni Leoni

Leoni will be desperate to return from his unfortunate ACL injury that cut short his debut season before it even really started. With a major defensive shake-up expected, the 19-year-old is expected to be integrated into first team action frequently and quickly.

Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool’s main midfield three are a solid part of Slot’s system and the club are reportedly working on tying them all down to new contracts. Any new midfield signings will surely work around Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

Cody Gakpo

Gakpo hasn’t long signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool and has played a regular starting role this season. While some changes are expected to be made to the Reds’ attack this year, we can expect to see Gakpo remain at Anfield beyond this season.

Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike

Ekitike has been a superb signing for Liverpool and is already a firm fan favourite. Wirtz is also starting to showcase his full potential and looks more threatening and confident as the weeks go by.

Alexander Isak

It’s been a tough start for Isak, who is now out injured and not expected back for a while. However, there is still firm belief the British record signing will come good once he’s back to full fitness.

Liverpool players whose futures are in doubt

Curtis Jones

Interest has been rising in Jones recently and unless he signs a new contract soon, his current terms are due to expire next summer. The midfielder has only ever played for Liverpool but there are now murmurs that he could be tempted by a move away to guarantee a nailed-on starting spot elsewhere.

Stefan Bajcetic

Bajcetic was backed to be the next exciting young talent at Liverpool but injuries have severely impacted his career so far. The midfielder last played for the senior team in May 2024 before being sidelined with another lengthy injury. As things stand, it’s unclear whether Bajcetic will become a more regular part of this Liverpool side or not.

Freddie Woodman

Woodman’s contract expires this summer but Liverpool have the option of extending by another 12 months. The goalkeeper was brought in to bolster Slot’s options between the sticks and while he’s had just one outing this season, he could serve a similar role to Adrian, who was mostly a third choice option towards the end of his time on Merseyside.

Players who Liverpool will sell in 2026

Harvey Elliott

After an unsuccessful stint with Aston Villa, many are wondering what the future holds for Elliott. Liverpool were willing to sell him to the Villans after his loan spell, suggesting they will once again be open to permanent offers once the summer window opens.

Andy Robertson

Despite mostly playing back-up to Kerkez this season, Robertson recently publicly said he wants to stay at Liverpool beyond this summer, when his contract is due to expire. However, a deal with Tottenham is now looking increasingly likely. According to Sky Sports, the two Premier League sides have entered preliminary talks over a deal this window, and an outcome is ‘expected in the next few days’.

Wataru Endo

Endo has played just 43 minutes of Premier League football this season. Despite being a favoured option under Jurgen Klopp, the midfielder just isn’t getting the game time with Slot at the hilt. Endo has a lot to give but he is just gathering dust at Liverpool these days.

Joe Gomez

Gomez came close to joining AC Milan over the summer and as his playing time remains limited, it seems his Liverpool chapter is coming to an end. It will be the end of an era if Gomez does leave this year.

Mohamed Salah

After his bombshell comments about his situation at the club and relationship with Slot, it is looking increasingly likely that Salah will leave Liverpool sooner rather than later. His contract expires in 2027 and while Saudi Arabia remain determined to sign him, the Reds may opt to sell up this summer to ensure they get a decent pay day for their star player.

Federico Chiesa

Despite quickly becoming a fan favourite and putting in some important performances for the Reds, Chiesa simply can’t catch a break when it comes to his time on the pitch. Even during Salah’s AFCON absence, the Italian winger struggled for minutes, and with Juventus interested in re-signing him, a move could be on the cards.

Who will leave Liverpool as a free agent?

Ibrahima Konate

Konate has reportedly rejected three contract offers from Liverpool so far and they look no closer to reaching an agreement with the centre-back. As things stand, all signs points to the France international leaving when his terms expire this summer.

Rhys Williams

The forgotten centre-back is expected to leave the club this summer when his contract expires. Williams has not played for Liverpool since 2021 and is clearly not part of the club’s plans moving forwards.
