Mo Salah rated lowest as Dominik Szoboszlai cements player of the year claim

Mohamed Salah had a night to forget in Liverpool’s 3-2 loss at Bournemouth, but he was far from alone in that respect.

The Reds’ showed their weak mentality once again on Saturday evening, conceding in the dying seconds after fighting back from 2-0 down.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

For Salah (4.53), it was an anonymous showing – one that earned him the lowest rating.

The Liverpool legend continues to look a shadow of his former self, with the Echo‘s Ian Doyle saying he “lacked quality at key times.”

GOAL’s Tom Bellwood was equally unimpressed, feeling there is “something missing from his game,” while This Is Anfield‘s readers gave him an average score of just 2.1!

Cody Gakpo (4.63) is having a poor season and was only marginally better than Salah, with TIA’s Henry Jackson calling him a “painful watch at the moment.”

Even Virgil van Dijk (4.73) had a disappointing evening, being at fault for the first goal, and he completed the three worst players for Liverpool.

On the plus side, Dominik Szoboszlai (7.30) shone yet again, comfortably scoring highest above his teammates.

What the stats say

According to FotMob, Szoboszlai was also Liverpool’s best performer at Bournemouth, getting an 8.6 rating.

The Hungarian added another couple of goal contributions to his name, as well as having the third-highest pass completion rate (87%).

But the stats made for grim reading for far too many Liverpool players, with Florian Wirtz only winning two out of eight ground duels.

Salah failed to complete either of his two dribbles, while Gakpo had just three touches in Bournemouth‘s penalty area.
