Bayern Munich have already decided they won’t be signing Nicolas Jackson on a permanent deal from Chelsea despite boasting the option. Instead, the German giants want another Chelsea player.
Jackson, who has just returned from the African Cup of Nations, joined Bayern on loan in the summer after Chelsea had signed both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. They were preferred at the Club World Cup.
The 24-year-old Senegal striker has since gone on loan to Bayern, where he has amassed just five goals in 19 games. From the start, it had been believed that Jackson’s permanent clause would not be struck.

That was reiterated by Max Eberl last month, with Jackson set to remain at Bayern as Harry Kane’s back-up until the summer before returning. But another Chelsea player could head in the opposite direction.
Bayern Munich identify Chelsea defender as new target
A penny for Josh Acheampong’s thoughts, at the moment. The teenage defender has been sensational for Chelsea this season when filling in, wherever that may be. One of the world’s best defenders at his age.

The defender has played 19 times for Chelsea in all competitions this season. But instead of trusting the England U21 ace at centre-back, Liam Rosenior has called for Chelsea to bring in a new central defender.
Jeremy Jacquet is being targeted with the Rennes star a £60m option. But Chelsea have a talent that is not only better, but more experienced at a younger age. Bayern Munich are looking to take advantage.
The Mail claim Bayern want to sign Acheampong from Chelsea. In only a brief update, the report does not indicate how much a fee would be or whether Bayern would move this month, or in the summer.
Bayern Munich are not the only side eyeing Josh Acheampong
Indeed, Bayern would be a stunning move for Acheampong. While an all-conquering side domestically, Bayern’s inability to find the perfect centre-back continues to haunt Kane and Kompany in Europe.
How much would you SELL Acheampong for? 😤
It would have to be a hefty price…

Dayot Upamecano has a mistake in him and Kim-Min jae has failed to convince since his move from Napoli. If anyone can improve a defence, it is Kompany, but he would prefer a defender he can mould.
Interest in Acheampong makes sense, then. However, Chelsea aren’t the only side keen. Sky Sports News report that Crystal Palace want Acheampong to replace Marc Guehi, who chose Man City over Chelsea.
Palace have a history of signing Chelsea defenders – Guehi himself, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell – and Acheampong might even be tempted by a loan until the summer, if Jacquet does arrive in London.
