Elliott back in for Villa?
Aston Villa have bought Harvey Elliott into the fold for Sunday's game at Newcastle despite him being on the outer for almost the entirety of his loan spell.
The Liverpool star has endured a miserable time at Villa Park since joining them in the summer but has been included by Unai Emery for the clash at Newcastle.
But injuries to Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn have resulted in the England U21 star travelling for the game at St James’ Park. The playmaker has been a peripheral figure with Villa likely conscious that they could trigger a £35million agreement to buy the player.
If he reached 10 Premier League appearances they would have to fork out the fee. The Telegraph reports that five of those appearances have to be in the second half of this season and Emery had claimed he expected the player to head back to Anfield.
Simeone hits back over Alvarez
Diego Simeone has leapt to the defence of forward Julian Alvarez amid claims he could leave the club.
The Argentine has been a star player for Atletico Madrid following a big-money switch from Manchester City, but amid talk of a return to the Premier League Simeone has snapped back.
He angrily replied: "Seriously? Are you seriously asking me that? The truth is that Julian Alvarez speaks for himself, because of the name he has, the authority he carries, and the career he’s built, right?"
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has maintained that Cole Palmer remains happy at the club despite reports suggesting he could leave with Man Utd touted as a potential location.
"I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems, and is, very, very happy to be here," Rosenior said.
"He is a huge part of our long‑term plans, he's an outstanding player. Every player goes through difficult moments in their career with injuries, but that is no indication of his quality."
Tottenham continue to explore a deal for Andy Robertson, whose stint at Liverpool could come to an end.
He's been hugely successful at Anfield but has slipped down the pecking order with his contract expiring in the summer.
