Spurs plot £30 million bid for Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool’s season went from bad to worse on Saturday as they were beaten 3-2 by Bournemouth on the south coast.

The Cherries raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Evanilson and Alex Jimenez, with Reds captain Virgil van Dijk arguably at fault for both goals.

The Dutchman then went some way towards atoning for his mistakes when he halved Liverpool’s deficit on the stroke of half-time, before Dominik Szobozlai drew the visitors level with a curled free-kick.

Liverpool looked set for a fifth consecutive draw in the Premier League, until Amine Adli found the back of the net deep into added time to secure all three points for Bournemouth.

Arne Slot’s side remain fourth in the table but could fall as low as seventh if Chelsea, Manchester United, and Brentford all win on Sunday.

In the meantime, it is emerging that one of Liverpool’s fierce rivals are interested in one of their midfielders.

According to DaveOCKOP, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Reds midfielder Curtis Jones and could make a move to sign the player.

The report claims that the Lilywhites are interested in the England international despite signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

John Heitinga – who previously worked under Slot at Anfield and is now part of Thomas Frank’s backroom staff at Tottenham – is said to be a huge admirer of both Jones and Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, who Spurs have also been in talks to sign.

Jones is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has now made more than 200 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 23 assists.

While he continues to feature regularly for the Reds, the report suggests that the player himself could be ready for a new challenge.

Spurs are said to be prepared to make an initial offer of around £30 million for the midfielder, although Liverpool likely demand more to allow the Englishman to leave Anfield.
