Last weekend, the Gunners only drew to Forest, but, they still extended their lead, as Man City and Villa both lost. Arsenal are currently in control and remain major favourites to win the Premier League this season.
With regards to the Champions League, the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, and Real Madrid remain a threat, but Arsenal are also one of the favourites as things stand. Could the double, or even the quadruple be on, with the Gunners still in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup too?
Alan Shearer thinks Arsenal could win the double
The Gunners beat Inter Milan 3-1 during the week in what was a convincing win against last year’s finalists. Inter lost to PSG, and Shearer predicted after the game that he thinks both Arsenal and PSG will make the final this year.
He said on Amazon Prime Video: “There’s no doubt Arsenal have got a really good chance of being there [the Champions League final]. I think with the confidence and the belief that Arsenal have, and you’ve seen their turnover of players in terms of their squad…it will certainly help them in the months ahead.”
Shearer was also asked about the Premier League, and he is very confident that Mikel Arteta’s squad is more than good enough to help land the Gunners a league title.
He said: “I think they’ll win the Premier League. I think with the seven points they’ve got, it was a really good weekend for them last weekend with City and Villa dropping points again.
“So, again, I’d go back to the squad, how many chances they can make. I think defensively is the key for me. They don’t give many goals away, and they’re so strong at the back, so I think they’ll go ahead and they’ll do it.”
