Rosenior is yet to confirm why Palmer is not involved today, but it appears he has failed to recover from this niggle in time to travel.

Speaking on Wednesday, head coach [Liam Rosenior](/topic/liam-rosenior) had said he was confident Palmer could be involved against Palace, even suggesting he may be fit to start, but the forward has not been named in the matchday squad at Selhurst Park.

He said: “He felt something really, really minor in the game against Brentford.

“It was actually quite early in the game, so credit to him to keep going through it. But I don’t want to risk any players at this stage, especially players of Cole’s quality.

“He has got a really good chance to be involved and start the game on Sunday. We will keep preparing him for that.”

He also confirmed that Palmer had been in first-team training this week: “Cole is in a good place. He joined training today which is really positive. We'll assess his reaction to training.”

Rosenior will hope to have him back in the fold soon, with a crunch Champions League clash against Napoli looming large on the horizon.
