This transfer link doesn’t bear thinking about, but there is now concrete evidence that this is a possibility.
Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave last summer ruined his legacy in the eyes of some. Going to Liverpool’s fiercest rival of the past decade would cause a different level of anger entirely.

It makes sense from City’s perspective. Pep Guardiola practically conceptualised the inverted full-back role, and there’s nothing to suggest he wouldn’t be able to mastermind a role that extracts the best from the right-back. On top of that, Erling Haaland would be the target for crosses and long balls.
But from the player’s end, it would be an unforgivable decision.
Liverpool fans don’t need to panic yet. These talks are in the early stages. If things in Madrid remain as they are, though, this is a move that can’t be ruled out — as ridiculous as that sounds.
