Liverpool have been linked with a move to appoint former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot, and Fabrizio Romano has shared an update, confirming that there has been no contact between the two parties.
Slot's side suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat away at Bournemouth on Saturday, conceding a late goal after an incredibly underwhelming performance. That is now five games without a win for Liverpool in the Premier League, so the pressure is surely mounting on the manager as they face a fight to even qualify for Champions League football.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has confirmed that as of today, there has been no direct contact between the agents of Alonso and Liverpool. The respected reporter adds that Alonso will be back in management soon, but there's been no official contact from the Merseyside club as of yet.
"At the moment, I'm not aware of any official contact between Liverpool and Xabi Alonso. Any direct contact between Liverpool and the agents of Xabi Alonso. What I keep telling you is something very clear, I told you already the day Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid decided to part ways. Xabi will be back soon."
Reports in Spain recently claimed that Liverpool had made contact with Alonso ahead of potentially appointing their former midfielder as manager. The report also adds that the Reds have received positive signs that Alonso would be interested in taking over at Anfield, but Romano has now poured cold water on those suggestions.
