Luka Doncic gave fans a laugh during the Los Angeles Lakers 116–110 win over the Dallas Mavericks when he accidentally started walking toward the Mavericks locker room at halftime. The star quickly realized his mistake, joking that old habits die hard after seven and a half years in Dallas.
Luka Doncic, traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers almost a year ago, still shows traces of his long-time habits from Dallas.
Playing seven and a half seasons with the Mavericks leaves a mark, and it was clear on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.
Doncic led the Lakers to a 116–110 victory over his former team, posting a strong 33 points and 11 assists double-double.
While his performance was impressive, the six-time All-Star had a funny moment at halftime. In a brief lapse, Doncic started walking toward the Mavericks locker room instead of the visitors' side, seemingly out of habit. He quickly realized the mistake and returned to the Lakers' locker room.
"I think today at halftime, I was going to the other tunnels. I was kind of confused," Doncic said, laughing when talking to the Inside the NBA crew on ESPN after the game. He added that he made the same mistake the first time he played at the American Airlines Center as a Laker.
This season, in 36 games, Luka Doncic is putting up stellar numbers, averaging 33.4 points, 8.7 assists, and 7.8 rebounds while playing 36 minutes per game.
