Liverpool are currently in talks with multiple players over new contracts

Liverpool are working on tying down key players to new contracts ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Liverpool will almost certainly see players leave in the summer as well. Mohamed Salah’s future remains uncertain, while Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson are both approaching the end of their contracts. In fact, the latter has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this window.

Dominik Szoboszlai confirms Liverpool contract talks

Liverpool are eager to keep key players at Anfield and have started conversations with Dominik Szoboszlai over a new deal. The midfielder is under contract until 2028 but as a crucial part of Arne Slot’s side this season, they are working on extending his terms.

The player himself has confirmed talks have started but there is reportedly ‘no agreement’ just yet, according to Paul Joyce.

Liverpool planning next contract talks with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister

Reaching a new agreement with Szoboszlai will be a statement move from the Reds amid this troublesome season. They are also working on deals with his midfield teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.

A report at the start of the new year, also from Paul Joyce, claimed that Liverpool are ‘planning to open contract talks with Gravenberch’.

“No formal discussions have taken place so far, but there is a keenness to secure the future of the Netherlands midfielder, who will have two years remaining on his deal in the summer,” the reporter wrote for The Times on January 2nd.

Another update from Joyce claims Liverpool have been in contact with Mac Allister’s representatives ‘about the structure of a future agreement’. While talks are at the preliminary stage so far, fans will hope to see all of these conversations materialise into new deals.

It is an uncertain time for Liverpool right now. This season has been far from what fans expected and rumours surrounding Slot’s future continue to do the rounds. If the club announce new long-term deals for key players like the midfield three mentioned, the fanbase will feel a sense of reassurance that their best figures aren’t looking to jump ship.

With Konate and Robertson appearing no closer to new deals, it looks more likely that the next two agreements after Szoboszlai’s reported deal in principle will be Mac Allister and Gravenberch.
