Tottenham boss Thomas Frank mimics Arne Slot in response to Andy Robertson transfer question

Thomas Frank was asked about the links between Andy Robertson and Spurs that have picked up steam in the past few days.

Liverpool’s iconic left-back looks to be bound for an exit, either now or in the summer.

Some think Robertson played his last match for Liverpool against Bournemouth, with a deal being mooted for before deadline day.

After Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Burnley on Saturday, an already-frustrated Frank was asked for comment.

Another disappointing result for the Dane, who cut an irate figure when facing the media at full-time.

Asked for an update on the status of transfer talks in his post-match press conference, the Spurs boss responded: “I don’t speak about players that are not in the club, except Ronaldo and Messi. So that’s no comment”.

It’s a similar answer to the one Arne Slot gave last week.

As seen on Liverpoolfc.com, he said: “What do you think my answer is going to be? Have I ever said anything about transfers in front of these microphones? My answer is always the same and it’s quite boring to always give the same answer… we don’t talk about transfers in public.”

By all appearances, Spurs want Robertson to join in January. It’s unlikely that the Reds will stand in his way so long as they have cover, likely in the form of Kostas Tsimikas.

What Fabrizio Romano has heard about Andy Robertson

The latest from the Italian is that negotiations are ongoing between Liverpool and Spurs.

He said as much on Sunday morning, also claiming that talks have progressed from the initial proposal on Friday, with the clubs now trying to reach an agreement on the fee.

It’s shaping up to be done before the deadline if they can reach terms.

Robertson will go down as a Liverpool legend no matter how he departs, and if he has guarantees of more playing time at Spurs, fans won’t begrudge him the decision.
