In the final act of a most unremarkable debut, Marc Guehi celebrated like he'd won the World Cup. He had just blocked a shot from Wolves's Yerson Mosquera in stoppage time.

The challenge helped Manchester City keep a clean sheet, against a team which is bottom of the Premier League and has scored just five goals on their travels this season. In other words, Guehi might have gotten a bit overexcited.

But Guehi cares deeply about any team he represents. He knows he has a huge responsibility to prove Pep Guardiola was right to invest his time, energy and club's money in him.

In truth, Guehi was probably just pleased he finally had some genuine defending to do in City's cruise past Wolves. For most of the game, he didn't have to break sweat. It helps when you have a Ballon d'Or winner sitting in front of you, offering protection. Not that Wolves offered a threat, mind.

Yet Guehi didn't look out of place in a team full of superstars. He did what he had to do with a measure of composure and calm. That is the type of footballer City have got themselves.

Guardiola made a special note of Guehi's performance when he led Crystal Palace to FA Cup final glory over City last season. He knew back then Guehi was the calibre of player he wanted to have at the Etihad.

Someone capable of being the long-term replacement for John Stones, who is expected to leave the club this summer. It's understood Guehi has fitted seamlessly into his new working environment.

While Guardiola has been impressed with Guehi's leadership qualities in training. He is a footballer someone like Guardiola would consider to be 'low maintenance'.

A player with his prime years and peak ahead of him. And someone willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to achieve his ambitions. You're more likely to find Guehi in a coffee shop than a club.

Someone who relaxes from the madness of top level football with trips to the cinema alone, when he's not sitting at home watching his favourite sport, which is WWE. Guehi puts a lot of his success down to his faith in God. He is the son of church minister John Guehi, and was a church drummer during his teenage years.

Guehi recalls how his father used to drive him to training, worried he didn't have enough petrol in the car to get him there and back. There are no such financial worries for the Guehi family now.

Just don't expect Guehi Snr to turn up to watch his son play on Sundays, like when City travel to Liverpool at the start of next month. On that day, God always comes first.

Even before someone who reckons his destiny now is to help City become the rulers of English football once again.
